What is the rule of "silence" in the library?

have noticed that people can talk (sometimes very loudly without any consideration for others) in any floor at the library while others are studying/working/focusing.

Answer

Floors 3-5 of the library are designated as "quiet floors."

On Floors 1 & 2, low-to-moderate-level talking is allowed for students who are collaborating on group projects of study sessions.

If you find that people are talking at a level that is disruptive, you may ask them to keep the noise down. If you are uncomfortable doing that, you can call the Information Services desk at 410-706-7996 and request that library staff ask them to keep it down.
