Impact factors for gerontology and geriatrics journals

I am giving a lecture to gerontology students on choosing a journal to send their papers to. I have tried to find a list of impact factors specifically for gerontology and geriatrics journals, but only find sites where I need a membership or to pay. Can you help me with this list?

Answer

To find a list of gerontology and geriatrics journals and their impact factors, follow these steps:

  1. Under the Popular Links section of the library's homepage, click on Databases.
  2. Click on the J from the alphabetic list, and then click on Journal Citation Reports - JCR.
  3. Click Continue, and then click the Journal Citation Reports tab at the top of the screen.
  4. From the vertical menu at the left, click on Select Categories to expand the categories menu.
  5. Scroll down the alphabetical list of categories, and select GERIATRICS & GERONTOLOGY and GERONTOLOGY.
  6. Scroll down to the bottom of the vertical menu, and click on Submit to run your search and view the results.

JCR defaults to the most recent year that impact factors are available (2016, as of today), but you can view impact factors for previous years by selecting the desired JCR year from the vertical menu. For additional assistance, the library offers this online tutorial on using JCR.
