Do we have an electronic subscription to the New York Times and other newspapers?

Can we access on tablet and phone

Answer

Yes, the HS/HSL has an electronic subscription to The New York Times and other newspapers through Proquest's National Newspapers database. You can access the database using a tablet or phone, but the display may not be optimized.

To access the database, follow these steps:

  1. Begin at the library's home page: https://www.hshsl.umaryland.edu
  2. Under the Databases heading, click on View All Databases.
  3. Click on the letter N from the alphabetic list.
  4. Select the link National Newspapers Core & Baltimore Sun.

You will be able to search or browse content from The New York Times, The Baltimore Sun, The Chicago Tribune, The Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and more.

Please note: Some newspaper content may not be available the same day it is posted on the newspaper's website. Articles that are published online ahead of their print publication date may not be available from Proquest until the following day. Article publication dates and titles may also vary somewhat from those on the newspaper's website.

If you can't find an article with an exact title and publication date search, you may want to expand the date range and search using title keywords. You can also browse the latest issue of a specific newspaper by clicking on the Publications option at the top of the page, selecting the desired title, and then using the Choose an Issue to View search option.
