How to cite DSM 5 in APA 6th edition style

I want to know how to cite DSM 5 in APA 6th edition style on my paper and as a reference in the reference section.

Answer

To cite the complete work in your reference section, use this format:
American Psychiatric Association. (2013). Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders (5th ed.). Arlington, VA: Author.

Note: Be sure to use hanging indents and double-spacing in your reference list, in accordance with APA format guidelines.

The basic in-text citation should look like this:
(American Psychiatric Association, 2013).

To cite an entry in the DSM-5, replace the publisher information with the entry DOI, as in this example for the Anxiety Disorders entry:
American Psychiatric Association. (2013). Anxiety disorders. In Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders (5th ed.).
https://doi.org/10.1176/appi.books.9780890425596.dsm05

Note: Be sure to use double-spacing and hanging indents in your reference list, in accordance with APA format guidelines

Additional information on citing the DSM-5 in APA 6th ed. style, including in-text citation options and how to cite the mobile app, is available at the American Psychological Association's APA Style Blog (6th edition archive): http://blog.apastyle.org/apastyle/2013/08/how-to-cite-the-dsm5-in-apa-style.html
