How can I access the wireless network while I am at the library?

Answer

Eduroam
If you are a UMB campus member, you can access the campus wireless network called Eduroam. Your log in for Eduroam will be:

  • Username:   Your UMB email address* (UMID@umaryland.edu)
  • Password:    Your UM password

*If you are a UMB Affiliate (i.e., not an employee or student of UMB) and you do not have an email address ending in @umaryland.edu, your username will be: UMID@eduroam.umaryland.edu.

Non-UMB campus members (Visitors) can also use the Eduroam network, if they have an Eduroam account though a participating institution.

Eduroam setup instructions are available from the UMB Center for Information Technology Services at http://www.umaryland.edu/cits/services/eduroam/.

UMB Guest
Visitors not affiliated with an Eduroam participating institution can access the UMB Guest wireless network by following these steps:

  • From the list of available networks, select the wireless network UMB Guest
  • On the Sign On page that appears, choose Create an account.
  • Enter your email address and click Register. (The system will assign you a password, and your email address will be your user name for connecting to the network.)
  • Click Sign On to connect to the network.

Your login credentials will be good for 1 day (24 hours). After that time, you will need to create a new account to access the guest network.

The system will email you the password it assigns you. If you disconnect from the UMB guest network and wish to reconnect within 24 hours of creating a new account, you can retrieve the password from your email.
