Is there a way to ensure that I stay logged into HS/HSL?

When someone sends me a link to an article, I get an error page. Then I have go to the library site, search for the article, then log in, and then I am able to access the article. How can I make that process easier?

Answer

While there isn't a way to stay logged in, there are a couple of options that allow you to bypass the HS/HSL website when accessing subscription library resources.

The one you may find most useful is the HS/HSL Proxy Button option, instructions for which can be found on this page of our website: http://www.hshsl.umaryland.edu/resources/offcampus.php . The Proxy Button is a browser add-on that allows you to log in to library services without going to our webpage first.

However, depending on the links others send you, the Proxy Button may or may not facilitate access. For instance, if there is already a proxy URL prefix included in the link you receive, you may need to take that out before the Proxy Button will work.
