Q. How do I insert a running head and page numbers in a Word document?

Click Insert> Header> Blank
In header, type title in all caps
Go back to first page, click inside header
Check “Different First Page” box at the very top of the page
Double click in header on first page, click before first letter of title, type “Running head:” before title
Click inside header after the last letter in the title
Tab over to the right (but leave space between the cursor and the margin)
Go to Insert> Page numbers> Current position> Plain numbers
Click Page numbers> Format page numbers> Start at 0

6. Go to Insert> Page Numbers> Current position> Plain numbers

7. Click Page numbers> Format page numbers> Start at 0

8. Check "Different First Page" box at the top of the page

9. Double click in header on first page, type "Running head: TITLE OF YOUR PAPER"

10. Delete the 0 on the first page
