Q. Why is "Send citation to RefWorks" no longer coming up when locating an article?

Answer

The reason we removed the export to RefWorks option from Find It is because Find It often pulls incorrect or incomplete citation information for journal articles.  The best way to ensure your citations are correct is to export them directly from the database where you found the article(s) you wish to cite.

 

Step-by-step instructions for exporting from various databases are provided in this handout: http://guides.hshsl.umaryland.edu/ld.php?content_id=7244483 . Although the direct export option usually requires a few extra clicks to export a single citation, it actually requires many fewer if you are exporting multiple citations.

 

I'm sorry a feature you enjoyed is no longer available, but we had noticed a number of students having problems with inaccurate citations. Database direct exports will help to minimize this problem. Please note that export to RefWorks from Find It is still available for books in the library catalog.  So if you are citing a book that is listed in the USMAI catalog (Go to Library Catalog from our home page, then "choose campus" and select "all campuses."), you can click Find It for that book and export the citation to RefWorks.
