Q. How can I check out an e-book from WorldCat?

I want Diseases of Poultry by Saif & Barnes et al. and Diseases of Poultry by Holfstad et al.

Answer

E-books cannot be checked out from WorldCat.  WorldCat shows which libraries own or subcribe to a certain item, but most of the time you can't access that item directly through WorldCat.  Instead, you would need to go to one of the libraries that hold the item you need or order it through the USMAI catalog or interlibrary loan.
In the case of Diseases of Poultry, the 12th edition of the book is available as an e-book at UM College Park, so you could go to one of the UMCP libraries to access the e-book there.

If you are able to use the 11th edition, UMCP has a print copy of that book that can be sent to the HS/HSL for you to check out.  To have the book sent here, follow the instructions for materials "Within the University of Maryland System" on this page of our Q & As: http://answers.hshsl.umaryland.edu/a.php?qid=102319

However, if you really need the latest edition, you'll have to order the book through interlibrary loan, which goes outside of the USMAI system.  E-books can't be loaned between institutions, and although UM Eastern Shore shows a catalog record for a print 12th edition, the status of the book is "on order," indicating that it has not yet arrived.

To order the 12th edition of the book via interlibrary loan (a free service), please use the ILLiad system: https://www.docdel.umaryland.edu/logon.html

If you have never used the system before, click on First Time Users and register before submitting your request.
