Q. How do I access resources from off-campus?

Answer

1. How do I get to the Library's e-resources from off-campus?

To login to library resources from off campus enter your myUM ID and password. You will be prompted to do this when you try to access a resource directly. To set up a myUM ID account, go to: https://directory.umaryland.edu. Choose "New User/Set Up Account."

2. What if I'm having problems signing in?

If you are unable to sign up for a myUM ID, please contact the IT Help Desk at 410 706-4357 or help@umaryland.edu.  For other questions, contact the HS/HSL Circulation Desk (410-706-7995) or email Everly Brown at ebrown@hshsl.umaryland.edu

3. Who has access?

Only UMB faculty/staff who are in the UMB payroll system, currently enrolled students (except those in the School of Law*), and UMMC employees who have a faculty appointment within one of the UMB schools, are allowed off-campus access to e-resources. E-resources include: e-journals, e-books, databases and e-reserves.

*UM faculty, staff and students in the School of Law have access to e-resources through the Thurgood Marshall Law Library.

  1. This answer tells us how to get myUM ID and pw, but says nothing about how to find a login screen where we can use them to get access to the resources..

  2. A login screen will appear when you click on a e-resource, such as an electronic journal, database, or book, from the library's website. There isn't a main portal you have to go to to login. Just select the resource you want to use, and you'll be prompted to login.
